THE URBAN LEAGUE OF KANSAS

The Urban League of Kansas, Inc, an affiliate of the National Urban league, has a 61 year history of providing services to the Wichita community which includes four other counties in the MSA. The organization was foundedin 1954 with the mission to facilitate economic self-reliance and an improved quality of life for Urban League of Kansas clients through education, empowerment and self-respect. The agency offers programs in Housing, Workforce and Education and Youth Empowerment. Today, the Urban League of Kansas serves more than 2,000 clients annually.

Urban League Guild

The Urban League of Kansas Guild is the volunteer auxiliary of the Urban League. We donate our time to deliver services that extend public understand and support of the Urban League and its programs.

 

The principle concerns of the Guild are in the areas of interpretation, leadership development, and fund-raising. The Guild members’ work and dedication has earned us multi-year recognition in the Central Region of the National Council of Urban League Guilds.

Wichita Urban Professionals

Wichita Urban Professionals' mission is to create a network of rising leaders to improve the urban communities of Wichita. The group focuses on empowering Wichita's young, diverse and talented through relevant professional development, compelling leadership training and dynamic social networking events. The organization also publishes a bimonthly magazine, Urban Magnate, which is distributed to its membership and top city, civic, business and political leaders.

NUL AFFILIATE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER VACANCY

The CEO should be prepared to work within the framework of the Urban League’s current strategic plan, whose main goals are 

to (1) enhance and expand mission-related services; (2) attract, develop, and engage staff, board members, and supporters; 

and (3) expand social entrepreneurship ventures. This will require the new President to continue to strengthen the balance 

sheet and increase operational profits; sustain the organization's recent momentum; and lead it in new directions. A parallel 

priority will be to enhance community awareness of Urban League’s mission and maintain its reputation. The new leader should 

both support and exemplify the organization's values and culture. Accordingly, in addition to the characteristics indicated above, 

the successful candidate will have a proven background of: 

â–ºorganization leadership and administration;

â–ºbuilding community, government, and organization relationships;

â–ºchampion diversity and inclusion;

â–ºcustomer-orientation, successful marketing and fund raising;

â–ºboard and staff collaboration and teamwork;

â–ºpossess superior communication skills; and

â–ºleading creative and innovative programs and services.
